Calm Caterpillar Bloomie Kit
Soft and cuddly design that kids immediately take to. Works well as a sensory tool in a calming space. It feels like both a toy and a teaching resource.

a bit ugly; doesn’t perform consistently
It’s a really cool idea. Children like toys, and a toy that helps them learn breathing for emotional control sounded great. But children like good-looking stuffed plush toys. The middle is a slippery cloth-covered hard tube. The ends are a flower and a flame with less-than-cute faces. You’re supposed to be able to push on one end so that the other end pops out (push flower in, flame pops out and vice versa.) But it doesn’t work well every time, even with an adult pushing. I don’t think my four-year-old grand daughter will be able to make it work consistently. The idea needed some better execution.

A Beautiful, Calming Tool for Anxious Kids Great for Parents and ABA Therapists Amazon Vine Review
I originally picked up this blooming kit thinking it was just a cute little novelty item—honestly, it looked like a fancy toilet paper holder at first! But to my surprise, it’s become one of the most effective tools in our home for helping my toddler and my daughter manage their anxiety. Both of my girls struggle with high anxiety, and sometimes all they need is a gentle, engaging distraction. This kit does exactly that. My daughter immediately connected with it—she smelled the “roses,” then practiced the “blow out the candles” breathing technique, which is an amazing self-regulation tool. It’s simple, sensory-based, and works like magic during meltdowns or tense moments. At first, the scent was a bit too chemically for us, but I gave it a gentle wash and added a touch of fabric softener and my favorite dryer sheets. Now it smells like a real floral bouquet and is even more inviting. From a parenting perspective, this is a fantastic buy. But as someone who also works in the world of ABA therapy, I can honestly say: this is a wonderful therapeutic tool. It’s perfect for teaching breathing strategies, emotional regulation, and mindfulness in a way that feels playful and non-threatening. It can easily be used during sessions with young clients or kept in a calming corner.Whether you’re a mom like me or a therapist looking for engaging, sensory-friendly tools—this little kit is worth every penny. Sometimes, the simplest tools bring the biggest peace.🌟 Highly recommend for homes, therapy spaces, and classrooms! 🌟

Great to help little ones calm down
This is the perfect addition to my preschool classroom’s Calm Down Corner. We teach the “smell the flower, blow the candle” breathing technique, and Bloomie adds a great hands-on, visual component to the process. It’s light and easy to hold and manipulate. Great for little hands.

Simple yet effective
I am a first time mom and I got this The Calm Caterpillar Bloomie Kit Sensory Toys Stuffed Animals for Kids Learning Resources – Educational Toys Ideal for Calming Corner and Classroom Mindfulness Teaching Toys, Soft Cuddly Design for my 14 month old to use in the future once his brain is a little more developed.Being a first time, mom I’m still learning and I got this because I want to have a tool to use in the future when he’s having his big feelings. It comes packaged in a very nice box with written instructions on how to use the caterpillar as well as a QR code you can scan to watch a video tutorial. It’s quite a simple set up. You smell the flower and breathe in, push in the flower and breathe out.I actually tried using it along with the video and found it quite relaxing, so I’m excited to be able to try it with him in the future. I will probably also use this with my six-year-old niece who sometimes has really big feelings and has a hard time handling them. I really think it’s going to be a great tool to have and I’m glad I bought it.

Really cute and useful tool for teaching mindful breathing to children
We are big fans of the Calmee Caterpillar, so when I saw this I was very excited to give it a try. The idea is fantastic as you can use Bloomie as a tool to teach your child how to practice mindful breathing. It’s adorable and fun, to make the techniques more accessible to children. This toy is intended to be used alongside a trusted adult, and the instructions even tell the parent to be the one to switch the candle/flower side. Our 3.5 year old didn’t really have the strength to push the flame and flower out; it would take an older child to have the ability to use it on their own.The quality of the material on the flower and flame are good quality; they’re really soft and embroidered well. The faces are also really cute and sure to calm anyone down looking at those little smiles.I love that this includes a link to a course for parents/caregivers to learn how to use Bloomie. Overall this is a good accessory to pair with the Calmee Caterpillar, but if you only had the choice of one to put in a calm corner/safe area, I would recommend the Caterpillar over this. But overall this would be a great addition to a calm corner and work well in a classroom setting as well.

Adorable calming tool, sturdy for even the highest-needs studnets!
I first heard about The Calm Caterpillar Bloomie during an autism summit I attended! So imagine my excitement when it popped up here! I absolutely love this little tool! I used it for a bit with my own neurotypical 3 year old who loved it (and we even got to use it as intended to calm down a tantrum she had!) and then brought it to school for my students who all have profound special needs. One of my students loved it and took right to it. It was a little hard for my 3 year old to switch between the candle and flower, but my 5 year old student was able to after me modeling it a few times. This is great to teach a child to copy you with blowing and breathing in, beginnings of hopefully learning to speak (since most of my students are nonverbal). My students seem to especially love the flower!Th material is sturdy which is good because one of my students was biting on the candle, but it withstood the biting and chewing and is fine. Another pulled on the petals and they are all still intact. The tube is like a hard plastic covered in a layer of material. The material does attract hairs off the floor easily, but is easy to clean. The flower and candle go up one by one…as you push one side down, the other side pops up. Kind of like those pop-it balls where if you push down too many another will pop back up from the pressure.I hope my students take to this as a calming tool. I am excited to keep using it with them and with my new set of students who will be starting in the new school year in September!
